Dr. Day is an award winning physician with 30 years experience in the practice of Neurological Surgery. He is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle and completed residency training at the University of Southern California. Fellowship training was completed at the University of Vienna Neurosurgery Clinic (Vienna, Austria). Dr. Day is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery . Dr. Day is the former Chairman and Professor of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (2010- 2023) and was the Residency Program Director. He is currently the Director of Neurosurgery at the University Medical Center of El Paso and Medical Director of Nexus Neuroscience in El Paso, TX. While in Arkansas, Dr. Day was recognized as one of Arkansas’ Top Doctors every year and was listed as a top physician by Castle Connolly. Since assuming his new role in El Paso, Dr. Day’s team at UMC and Nexus Neuroscience has been recognized by HealthGrades as a Top 100 spine practice in the United States for 2025-2026. He maintains an active clinical practice.
Dr. Day has extensive experience in review and testimony as an expert witness in Neurosurgery on behalf of both plaintiff and defense. His areas of expertise in this arena include a broad range of brain and spine issues. Dr. Day has reviewed and testified in cases involving Brain and Spine Trauma, Brain Tumors, Brain Aneurysms and Vascular Malformation, Degenerative Spine Disease, Disc Herniations, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Cauda Equina Syndrome, and others. Dr. Day has experience at multiple institutions with quality assurance and peer-review in hospital and clinic settings.
